KENOSHA, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin – Parkside and head wrestling coach Nick Becker '18 have agreed to a multi-year contract extension. The University and Parkside Athletics have also committed to providing additional programmatic enhancements to the wrestling program, reflecting the commitment to the future growth and success of the program.

"I am excited to take this next step with Coach Becker and our wrestling program," remarked Director of Athletics Adam Schemm '08. "Nick brings incredible passion and pride for Parkside on a daily basis. He has put his heart and soul into building our wrestling program into a national contender. I am grateful to Chancellor Akey for her help, guidance, and support as we not only commit to our wrestling program moving forward, but all of our athletics programs."

Becker just finished his third season at the helm of Parkside Wrestling. During his tenure, Becker has helped maintain and extend upon the rich history of the program. Over his tenure, Becker has coached the Rangers to three top-15 team finishes at the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships, including a 7th place finish in 2024 which was the best program finish since 2018. Becker has coached nine NCAA Division II Wrestling All-Americans over the last three seasons and led the Rangers to their first NSIC Wrestling team title, going a perfect 11-0 in duals during the historic 2022-23 season.

"I want to thank Chancellor Akey, Adam Schemm, and Hayley Treadway for trusting in me to lead this program," remarked Becker. "The University of Wisconsin-Parkside is a place I hold dear to my heart and a place filled with many individuals who have a focus on student-athlete success. I'm grateful to be able to continue to coach at my alma mater and look forward to the bright future of our program. I also want to thank our volunteer assistant coaches and all Parkside Wrestlers past and present. The time and effort they have put in towards this program will always be remembered."

With a starting lineup that will return all six NCAA Division II Championship qualifiers, the Rangers will be poised for another strong season in 2024-25.

Becker, a 2018 Parkside graduate, had the most impressive career of any wrestler in Parkside's rich history. He was a 3-time NCAA Division II National Champion (2016, 2017, 2018), finished his career with a perfect 89-0 record, and is a 2-time NCAA D2 Wrestler of the Year.
