Becker Earns NSIC Coach of the Year After Historic Season for Parkside Wrestling

3/24/2026 1:13:00 PM

Following a national runner-up finish at the 2026 NCAA Division II Championships that featured five All-American finishes, Nick Becker has been named the NSIC Coach of the Year. This marks Becker's second time earning the honor, as he also received the award during the 2022–23 season.

Becker led the Parkside Rangers to a 12–4 overall dual record, including a 7–3 mark in conference competition. Throughout the season, Becker's squad featured eight individually ranked wrestlers.

A major highlight of the season came at the 46th Annual Midwest Classic, where the Rangers captured the team title for the second consecutive season. Parkside totaled a program-record 150 points against a field of 47 teams, finishing the tournament with eight individual placers.

The Rangers also made a statement on the national stage at the 2026 NWCA National Duals, finishing third and matching the best finish in program history, a mark that had stood since 1995.

In the postseason, Becker's squad continued its dominance by claiming the Super Region V title for the first time since 2016. The Rangers qualified seven wrestlers for the NCAA Wrestling Championships, led by regional champion Brody Hemauer at 165 pounds.

At the NCAA Championships, Parkside capped off its historic run with a national runner-up finish—the best in program history. Becker's impact was especially evident through the success of his athletes, as he coached five All-Americans, including national champion Shane Corrigan at 125 pounds.
