Preview: Rangers Softball Set to Open GLIAC Tournament Action Against PNW

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Parkside softball team is now preparing for post season play on Thursday. The Rangers and Pride will tango for a chance to advance to the GLIAC Quarterfinal game. First pitch is set for 1:30 p.m. CDT. The loser of the game will enter the play back side of the bracket and play at 4 p.m. CDT. Loser of that game will be eliminated. Parkside enters the tournament with eight All-GLIAC players, including GLIAC Player of the Year Mia Johnson. To read more about the eight selected and their season click here.
 
Purdue Northwest
The Rangers and Pride played four games during the course of the 2024 season. The Rangers went 1-3 against the Pride but snatched the lone win in a run rule victory in the most recent outing between the two sides. The Rangers took down the Pride in a 14-0 score line, behind tremendous team offense and a shutout gem from Ellie Curtis. To read about the first doubleheader in Hammond click here. The Pride, who have been in the NCAA Regional Rankings for three straight weeks, have three GLIAC First Teamers in DH Selena Mitchko, alternate Kylie Dugan and pitcher Maddison Roop. Mitchko has knocked a GLIAC leading 10 home runs this season and has collected a Pride leading 39 runs batted in. Teammate Kylie Dugan has also had a tremendous year at the plate for PNW. Just a freshman, Dugan leads the GLIAC in batting average at .475. She has also tallied 76 hits and has come around to score 29 times for the Pride.
 
Maddison Roop has been dominate in the circle for PNW this season. She enters the tournament with a 16-6 record and a 1.97 ERA. She has tossed over 150 innings for the black and gold, going the distance in 21 games. She has also thrown five shutout games this season.
