BAY CITY, Mich. – Parkside softball senior third baseman Mia Johnson has been named a recipient of the 2026 GLIAC Commissioner's Award, the league announced Wednesday.
The prestigious award is given to student-athletes who display excellence both on and off the playing field. Johnson, a sport management major, earns the honor for the second straight season after closing one of the most decorated careers in Parkside softball history.
Johnson put together the most complete season of her career in 2026, earning unanimous First Team All-America honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and the D2CCA. She also became a two-time NFCA All-American after earning Third Team All-America honors last season. Johnson remains the ninth player in Parkside softball history to earn All-America recognition.
The senior started all 52 games for the Rangers and slashed .456/.605/.966, finishing with 67 hits, 57 runs, 20 doubles, two triples, 17 home runs, 43 RBI, 142 total bases, 56 walks and seven stolen bases. She also made just three errors at third base, posting a .981 fielding percentage with 69 putouts and 90 assists.
Johnson led the GLIAC in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, doubles, doubles per game, home runs, home runs per game, runs, runs per game, total bases and walks per game. Nationally, she ranked third in NCAA Division II in slugging percentage, fifth in on-base percentage, eighth in total bases, 10th in home runs, 13th in doubles, 17th in runs, 19th in batting average and second in walks per game.
Johnson was also named First Team All-GLIAC for the fourth time in her career. In conference play, she hit .372 with a .533 on-base percentage and a .692 slugging percentage while starting all 28 GLIAC games.
The honor adds to Johnson's decorated Parkside career, which includes two GLIAC Player of the Year awards, four First Team All-GLIAC selections, two All-America honors and the program's all-time career doubles record. Johnson broke the record on the final day of the regular season, recording her 58th career double to pass Jackie Aiken and break a mark that had stood for nearly three decades.
