Johnson Headlines GLIAC End of Season Honors for 2024

BAY CITY, Mich. – The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference has announced their end of season awards. Mia Johnson headlined for the Rangers as the 2024 GLIAC Player of the Year. She and seven other teammates secured spots on the All GLIAC First, Second, or Honorable Mention teams.
 
 
GLIAC Player of the Year – Mia Johnson
Mia Johnson has been selected as the 2024 GLIAC Softball Player of the Year. Johnson has been on a tear in her sophomore campaign. Now a two time GLIAC First Teamer, she leads the Rangers in batting average, swinging at .387. That mark is also good enough to rank fourth in the GLIAC. She has collected 27 extra base hits this season, including eight homeruns, a mark that currently has her tied for second in the GLIAC. Her eight long balls are also a new career high for the South Milwaukee native. In fact, Johnson has set new career highs in every statistical hitting category this season. In the field Johnson has been a vacuum, accumulating 81 putouts and having just one error while appearing in all 49 contests for Parkside.
 
First Team
Third Base – Mia Johnson
This is the second year in a row Johnson has been selected as a GLIAC First Team player.
 
Catcher – Megan Medlin
Megan Medlin receives her first end of season honors from the GLIAC, securing a First Team nomination. Medlin has had a career year both at and behind the dish for the Rangers. Offensively she has produced 24 RBIs, and has swung at a .298 batting average. She has also notched two home runs this season, collecting her first colligate home run against Grand Valley back on 4/16. Medlin was also stellar defensively this season for Parkside. She reached a new career high for fielding percentage at an impressive .968 on the season.
 
Second Team
Second Base – Rylee Baetz
Rylee Baetz earned her second conference end of season honors from the GLIAC as she was selected to the All GLIAC Second Team. Baetz had a solid year all around in her junior season. The Hartford native started in all but one game this season for the Rangers. Across her 48 appearances she racked up 23 RBIs, 44 hits, and three homeruns all while carrying a .326 batting average. In the field Baetz was sound, putting out 86 batters with a .953 fielding percentage.
 
Outfield – Haley Remington
Haley Remington notches her first end of season conference recognition as she earned Second Team honors after her 2024 regular season play. Remington had a stellar year at the plate as she would amass a .362 batting average, good enough for third best on the team. She collected 68 total bases on 50 hits on the season all while driving in a team second best 33 runs. She also carried an impressive OPS percentage at .920. Remington played once again as the ball hawking center fielder for the Rangers, putting out a career high 78 batters in the field this year for a .964 fielding percentage.
 
Outfield – Cassie Rutledge
In her final season with the Rangers, graduate student Cassie Rutledge earned her second end of season conference honors with a spot on the GLIAC Second Team. Rutledge was a menace at the dish for the Rangers. Her .381 batting average was second best on the team. She slashed an impressive 1.014 OPS while collecting 56 hits, 17 of which went for extra bases. Her five triples lead the team in the category and was second best in the GLIAC. Rutledge also played an impressive leftfield for Parkside in 2024. She would put out a career high 68 batters while appearing in 46 games for the Rangers, all of which were starts.
 
Pitcher – Olivia Masnica
Olivia Masnica earns her first end of season honor as she was selected to the All GLIAC Second Team. Masnica had a career year in the circle. In her junior season she collected eight wins on the season, a new career high. She would throw eight complete games for the Rangers and collected two shutouts along the way. She crossed the century mark in innings pitched in 2024 at 101.1, the most of any Parkside pitcher this season. In her 101.1 innings pitched she would generate a 3.45 ERA, a new career low for the junior.
 
Honorable Mention
Taylor Delgado
Graduate Student Taylor Delgado notched her second career end of season GLIAC honor by being selected as GLAIC Honorable Mention. Delgado's final year at Parkside was yet another impressive one. She started in all but two games for the Rangers in 2024 while putting together a .268 batting average, her second best in her career. Parkside's leadoff batter would collect 41 hits while collecting 55 total bases. She would also draw 20 walks on the year, tied for first on the team. In the field Delgado would tie her best fielding percentage at .946 while collecting 79 putouts and 96 assists.
 
Toni Rodriguez
In her first season in the GLIAC, Toni Rodriguez notched a spot on the GLIAC Honorable Mention Team. The junior transfer made an immediate impact for the Rangers this past season. She would swing a career high in batting average at .276 in her junior season. She also collected two home runs on the year, her first one of her collegiate career on 4/10 against Purdue Northwest. She also drove in a career high 22 runs in 2024. In the field Rodriguez posted more new career highs including putouts at 254 while playing first base. She would end the regular season with a .977 fielding percentage.
