Rangers Use Big Game Two to Earn Split Over PNW

KENOSHA, Wis. – Parkside softball returned to the Case Softball Complex on Wednesday afternoon for a GLIAC doubleheader against the Purdue Northwest Pride. The Rangers fell in game one 12-3, but bounced back tremendously handling the Pride 14-0.
 
Game One

The Rangers struggled to get the offense going in game one. The Pride would post 12 total runs in the first game of the twin bill. Rylee Baetz would be responsible for two of the three Ranger runs in the game, as she would collect a two-run long ball.
 
Game Two
Parkside would erupt in game two of the doubleheader. Ellie Curtis was dominant on the mound for the Rangers. Curtis would pitch a complete game shutout, collecting seven strikeouts along the way.
 
Mia Johnson got the scoring started for the Rangers in the bottom half of the first inning. The sophomore would lace a one out double to leftfield to score teammate Cassie Rutledge and go up 1-0 over the Pride.
 
The Rangers big inning came in the home half of the second. Parkside would collect eight total runs on six hits. Two of the six hits would be four baggers off the bats of Toni Rodriguez and Cassie Rutledge. The Rangers would take a commanding 9-0 lead at the conclusion of the second inning.
 
Parkside would continue to pour it on in the third inning, plating another run off a Megan Medlin single. The Rangers would wrap of the scoring in the fourth inning, pushing across four runs on four hits to make the score a one sided 14-0.
