CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. --- The Parkside Tack and Field team kicked off the outdoor season on Friday, competing at both the Joey Haines Invitational and the Wash U Distance Carnival.

Alaura Busch finished sixth in the heptathlon, finishing with 3970 points. Her sixth-place finish was behind four Division I athletes and one Division II athlete.

At the Wash U Distance Carnival,
Melody Ochana ran the 3000m steeple, running in a time of 11:22.64.

Lexy Sams posted a time of 19:12.68 in the 5000 meters.

In the field events,
Hannah Vlies finished 21
st in the hammer throw with a personal best mark of 37.79m.
Michelle Barnvos finished 24
th with a personal best mark of 35.40m.
Emily Maynard also recorded a personal best, finishing in 25
th with a mark of 35.14m.

On the men's side,
Johnathon Nowacki ran a time of 32:41.13 in the 10,000 meters.
Jose Monroy ran a time of 34:05.25

In the field events,
Kaelan McDonough finished 24
th in the hammer throw with a mark of 37.71m.
