Vlies Sets New School Record As Rangers Finish Second At SLU Speed & Power Festival

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Parkside Rangers women's track and field turned in a strong day of competition Friday, with the majority of the squad competing at the SLU Speed and Power Festival and additional athletes at the WashU Distance Carnival.

On the track, Mayda Conrad led the way in the 100 meters with a sixth-place finish (12.60), while Lauren Wiitanen also cracked the top 15, placing 15th (13.32). In the 100-meter hurdles, Miranda Winkler placed third (15.60) and Dani Riemer finished fourth (15.75).

Lainey Fredrick added a 12th-place finish in the 200 meters (26.74). In the 400-meter hurdles, Anna Snorek took fourth in a personal-best 1:05.74, followed by Addison Stallings in fifth (1:07.86) and Jasmine Sieben in sixth (1:08.67).

In the 800 meters, Kylie Kwiatkowski (10th, 2:28.36) and Chloe Miller (14th, 2:32.16) each recorded top-15 finishes.

The Rangers also saw success in the field events, led by Analisia Melendez, who placed second in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 5.24 meters. Lainey Fredrick finished fifth (5.10m), Jazai Lopez took seventh (4.91m), and Avah Banks added a 10th-place mark (4.83m).

In the hammer throw, Hannah Vlies led a strong group with a fourth-place finish and personal-best throw of 43.89 meters, setting a new program record. Shelby Hanshaw followed in sixth (40.16m) and Brooke Mader placed seventh (40.03m), while Destiny Duesterbeck finished 12th (34.02m).

In the high jump, Nailah Taylor placed second with a clearance of 1.58 meters, while Delaney McMahon finished fourth, clearing 1.48 meters.

In the pole vault, Harley Wock placed third (3.10m) and Kalista Butkiewicz finished fifth (3.10m).

In the shot put, Hannah Vlies added a fourth-place finish (10.97m), while Destiny Duesterbeck placed fifth (10.86m) and Shelby Hanshaw finished eighth (10.39m).

The 4x100-meter relay team of Conrad, Snorek, Riemer, and Rachel Blaskowski capped the day with a first-place finish in 47.92.

Parkside will return to action Saturday at the SLU Billiken Invite.
