BURNSVILLE, Minn. – The University of Wisconsin Parkside's
Shane Gantz was voted by the league coaches as the NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year in wrestling. A native of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Gantz is a graduate student pursuing this MBA after earning a degree in business management.
The "NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year Award" is presented to a NSIC Wrestling student-athlete who participates at their institution for four years and is academically superior while making a positive contribution to their team and the University. The NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year award was initiated in 2020-21 to honor an outstanding senior that exemplifies the attributes of the model NSIC student-athlete.
Gantz is a two-time NCAA All-American and a three-time qualifier. He was ranked No. 1 the majority of the season at 165 pounds. He had an undefeated regular season and won the Super Region V Championship this season as he has compiled a 68-3 record over the past two seasons.
Academically, Gantz is a three-time member of the NSIC All-Academic Team and is a three-time Academic All-American selection. In the community, Gantz volunteers his time during the summer helping out local youth clubs and running camps across the state.
"Shane is a very self-motivated individual in all aspects of his life. He puts the team's accomplishments before himself and has been a team captain for us for the last three seasons. Family and friends are important aspects of his life and he treats all individuals the same. He has made a tremendous impact on Parkside Wrestling and will continue to do so in the years to come," said Head Coach

The NSIC is a 16-team, 18-sport, NCAA Division II conference with institutions located in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
