Track & Fields Opens Indoor Season With Second Place Finishes at Forever Red Alumni Classic

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Parkside men's and women's track teams opened their 2022-2023 indoor season on Saturday at the Carthage Forever Red Alumni Classic. The Rangers looked to begin the season with strong marks across all events. With a limited squad competing, the Rangers were able to come away with two second place finishes, a school record, and several personal bests in their first appearance of the season.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

The women's team ended the meet with 122 team points. Carthage came away with the win in their home meet with a team score of 150. Lake Forest placed third with 29 points. Bryant & Stratton finished with 19 points. 

The men's team finished with 95 points. Carthage also won on the men's side with 175 points. Bryant & Stratton finished third with 52 points.  

WHO LED THE WAY ON THE WOMEN'S SIDE 

  • Victoria Lendal led the way, winning the triple jump with a school record jump of 11.48 meters.  

  • Rachel Blaskowski came away with first-place finishes in both the 200 meter dash and long jump.  

  • Sara Wilson won the 400-meter dash 

  • CC Carter won the 55 meter hurdles 

  • Alaura Busch and Iyana Simmons tied for first in the high jump 

  • Kalista Butkiewicz came away with the win in pole vault 

  • Emily Mickelson placed 2nd in the 55-meter dash in her collegiate debut 

  • Emily Elford placed 3rd in the 55-meter dash and 2nd in the 200 meter-dash 

  • Savannah Wittig placing 3rd in the 400-meter dash 

  • Cecilia Quevedo placing 3rd in the mile 


WHO LED THE WAY ON THE MEN'S SIDE 

  • The men's team was led by their 400-meter dash and triple jumps squads, which earned them 45 points 

  • Nic Davy led the way in the 400, winning the event. Tommy Martin followed Davy with a second-place finish, while Michael Calbaltera came in with a fourth-place finish 

  • In the triple jump, four Rangers scored points with Tyler Wilson leading the way with a first-place finish. Brody Nyffenegger placed fourth, Elijah Fairbanks fifth, and Riley William sixth 

  • Sean Waldvogel in the 800-meter run 

  • Simon Dominic in the 55 hurdles 

  • Daksh Arora in the pole vault 

  • Thomas Doherty placing 2nd in High Jump 

  • Michael Hendrix placing 2nd in the 55-meter hurdles and pole vault 


WHAT'S UP NEXT
The Rangers will return to action in 2023, as they had back to Carthage to compete in the Firebird Opener on January 14th. Track and Field will return to Petretti Fieldhouse on January 21st for the Lake Michigan Open. For more information, visit parksiderangers.com.
