(Jan. 30, 2016)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's basketball squad returned to the win column on Saturday afternoon, never trailing in an 80-66 triumph over Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division rival University of Illinois Springfield inside The Recreation and Athletics Center.

The 21st-ranked Rangers (16-3, 9-2 GLVC) led by as many as 13 points before the Prairie Stars (8-13, 2-9 GLVC)Â tied the game on a Jamall Millison jumper with 11:44 left, knotting the score at 51. UW-Parkside answered the challenge with 10 of the next 11 points and 18 of the next 21, establishing a game-high 15-point buffer with 6:38 remaining.
Alexander Brown played a key role in the run, sparking the spurt with a layup and a three and collecting seven points during the offensive onslaught.

UIS reduced the gap to just six with 2:58 remaining but UW-Parkside again answered the call, closing the game on an 11-3 run to collect the squad's 12th win in 13 games.

Kendale McCullum opened the game with a three as the visiting Rangers staked a 10-point lead with 10:36 left in the opening half. UW-Parkside's lead swelled to 13 after
Paul Torola hit a pair of free throws with 1:58 left but the host Prairie Stars closed the half on an 8-2 run with Davi Austin hitting a jumper as time expired as Parkside owned a 39-32 buffer at the break.

Illinois Springfield methodically chipped into the lead in the second stanza before using an 8-0 run to tie the game at 51.

Andy Mazurczak led the Rangers with 19 points while also adding seven rebounds as all nine players to see the floor tallied at least five points.
Kendale McCullum had 14 points and eight boards while Brown had 10 off the bench.

Jamall Millison led UIS with 22 points while Davi Austin added 21.

Parkside enjoyed a 36-28 rebounding edge while owning a 28-9 lead in bench production.

The Rangers return to the court on Thursday night, resuming interdivisional play against William Jewell College at 7:30 p.m. inside DeSimone Gymnasium.
