SAINT LOUIS, Mo. (Jan. 14, 2016)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's basketball team negated an 11-point deficit on Thursday night, collecting its seventh consecutive victory with a gritty 70-66 win over host University of Missouri-Saint Louis in a Great Lakes Valley Conference interdivisional clash inside the Mark Twain Building. Three Rangers ended the night in double figures in the wild affair featuring seven lead changes and 10 ties.

Host UMSL (6-9, 0-6 GLVC) owned an 11-point edge with 1:53 left in the opening frame and enjoyed a nine-point lead at the halftime break. The visiting Rangers (11-2, 4-1 GLVC) battled back in the second half, utilizing a 16-5 run in the second half to turn a nine-point deficit into a four-point lead with 7:29 remaining. The Parkside scoring surge included nine consecutive points, including four from Jalen Currie to secure the team's first lead since early in the opening half.

Six straight points tilted the scales back in favor of the Tritons and the lead traded hands three more times over the final five minutes with Parkside seizing the lead for good off a three-point play from Kendale McCullum with 1:46 left. McCullum hit a layup and added a free throw while Alexander Brown collected a steal and a layup 15 seconds later, pushing the buffer to three. UMSL answered with a jumper but three free throws in the final 20 seconds proved just enough for the Green and White to escape with the win,

The opening 15 minutes saw two lead changes and five ties with neither squad holding a lead greater than four before the homestanding Tritons mounted a 10-2 run, turning a 21-21 deadlock into an eight-point lead. Brandon Marquardt played a major role in the run for UMSL, scoring six of the team's 10 points during the spurt, making a three the old fashioned way along with a long range bomb to cap off the run with 4:50 left in the first half. The Tritons lead ballooned to 11 with 1:53 left as the hosts enjoyed a 40-31 edge after 20 minutes of play. UW-Parkside's lone lead of the half was at 14:14 off a Chavares Flanigan three-pointer giving the Green and White a fleeting 13-11 lead.

Brown poured on 20 points to pace all scorers, hitting nine of his 14 shots while Andy Mazurczak added 15, including 10 in the second half. McCullum added 11 points and nine boards along with four assists while Flanigan had nine points off the bench.

Joshua Webster led the Tritons with 19 points with Brandon Marquardt chipping in 15.

UW-Parkside returns to the hardwood on Saturday, facing GLVC rival Maryville University at 3 p.m.
