The UW-Parkside men's basketball team jumped out to a quick 9-2 lead at the U.S. Cellular Arena in downtown Milwaukee Saturday night. In the end, NCAA Division I UW-Milwaukee, forged ahead and took a 63-50 exhibition decision against the Rangers.
It was the first time out for the vast majority of the Ranger roster. UW-Milwaukee already had a pre-season game under its belt.
Two Ranger newcomers dented double digits in scoring. Freshman
Jeremy Saffold debuted scoring a team-high 13 points. Sophomore transfer
Grant Johnson got into the act scoring 11 points.
Zach Blesich had eight points and six rebounds for the group in green.
Ryan Callozzo started his Ranger career by hitting a couple of three-pointers and adding nine points to the cause.
Each team shot 33 percent from the floor in the contest. UW-Milwaukee got to the free throw line a few more times (22-14) and outscored the Rangers at the stripe, 17-8.
Ricky Franklin was the Panthers's top player with 21 points.
"Every one of our new kids did something well for us tonight," said UW-Parkside head coach
Luke Reigel.
UW-Parkside will open the regular season Sunday, Nov. 15, against Concordia-Wisconsin. The game will start at noon in the DeSimone Gymnasium
