Hendrix Headlines as Rangers Turn in Strong Showing at Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Wis.-- The Parkside men's track and field team turned in a well-rounded performance Saturday at the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative, highlighted by an NCAA qualifying effort and strong depth across sprints, hurdles, distance, and field events.

Leading the way was Michael Hendrix, who captured the 110-meter hurdles title with a time of 14.27 after posting a 14.26 in the preliminaries. His performance met the NCAA Division II standard and continued an impressive outdoor campaign. In the 400-meter hurdles, Thomas Stiltner added to the Rangers' success with a runner-up finish, crossing in 54.61.

On the track, the Rangers showed depth in the sprint events. Jaylan Nelson (10.88) and Zander Dezarn (10.89) paced a large Parkside contingent in the 100 meters, with Ramere Jackson (10.96), Mate Pesti (10.97), Ethan Cowart (11.04), Jadon Rose (11.04), and Jalon Rose (11.41) also competing. In the 200 meters, Braydon Dowler (22.51) and Jadon Rose (22.69) turned in top-10 finishes.

Carter Peet led the way in the 400 meters with a fourth-place finish in 49.86, followed by Dalton Metzdorf (51.47), Mikhail Bolden (52.15), and Dezarn (52.60). The 4x400 relay team of Nelson, Metzdorf, Peet, and Jones placed second overall with a time of 3:23.56.

In the middle-distance events, Robin Bertsch clocked a 1:57.21 in the 800 meters to lead Parkside, while Philip Weiglein finished in 2:02.68. Corey Goff posted a 4:09.06 in the 1500 meters, with Max Silkey adding a 4:41.08. Andy Monroy rounded out the distance group with a time of 17:49.47 in the 5000 meters.

The field events saw several solid performances. Cooper Vail led the Rangers in the discus with a throw of 44.00 meters to place eighth, while also competing in the hammer (40.05m). Kaelan McDonough posted a 44.48-meter mark in the hammer and added a fifth-place finish in the javelin at 43.37 meters. Zander Garlock (36.35m) and Chris Carlson also competed in the hammer, while Carlson (30.78m) and Garlock (30.62m) added marks in the discus.

In the shot put, Nicholas Katsma recorded a throw of 10.24 meters. Ryan Peel competed in the pole vault.

The Rangers will now turn their attention to the GLIAC Championships, set for April 29 through May 1.
