MULTIPLE LOCATIONS -- The Parkside Rangers men's track and field split competition between the Cal State LA Twilight Open in Los Angeles and the Phil Esten Challenge in La Crosse, turning in several strong performances across both meets.
At Cal State LA, Michael Hendrix delivered the top performance of the day, winning the 400-meter hurdles in 52.00. The mark ranks 12th in NCAA Division II this season. Carter Peet added a fourth-place finish in the event (56.31).
In the field, Ariel Molina placed second in the high jump, clearing 1.95m.
The Rangers also claimed a relay victory in Los Angeles, as the 4x100-meter team of Jaylan Nelson, Mate Pesti, Hendrix, and Ian Liburd took first in 41.30.
At the Phil Esten Challenge, the Rangers saw strong efforts in both track and field events. Thomas Stiltner led the hurdles group with an eighth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (54.67).
In the distance events, Connor Sheahan paced Parkside with a fifth-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase (9:18.73), while Beckett Pawlak added a 13th-place finish (9:44.60).
The middle-distance group was led by Jacob Jones (19th, 1:56.04) and Robin Bertsch (21st, 1:56.69) in the 800 meters.
In the field events, Cooper Vail turned in a pair of solid performances, placing 14th in the discus (47.38m) and 13th in the javelin (44.58m). Aaron Mueller added a 23rd-place finish in the long jump (6.40m), while Ryan Peel cleared 4.37m in the pole vault.
Parkside will continue competition through the weekend as the outdoor season progresses.
