WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Parkside Rangers men's track and field battled through cold, rainy conditions—and a weather delay—to compete Friday at the Rex Foster Twilight, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
On the track, Michael Hendrix delivered the top performance of the day, winning the 400-meter hurdles in 52.73. The mark ranks 13th in NCAA Division II this season and meets NCAA provisional qualifying standards.
In the sprints, Mikhail Bolden led the way, qualifying for the finals in the 100 meters before placing third overall in 10.84 after running a personal-best 10.80 in prelims. Ethan Cowart also advanced to the finals, finishing fifth (11.06) after a personal-best 11.14 in prelims.
Ian Liburd added a third-place finish in the 400 meters (50.78), while Dalton Metzdorf placed 13th (53.43).
In the middle-distance events, Robin Bertsch led the 800-meter group with a fourth-place, personal-best finish (1:58.04), followed by Jacob Jones in sixth (1:59.64).
The distance crew was highlighted by Connor Sheahan, who placed second in the 1500 meters with a season-best time of 4:04.69. In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Beckett Pawlak finished third in 9:50.23, a mark that ranks among the top 100 in Division II this season.
In the field events, Cooper Vail turned in a strong day, placing eighth in the discus with a personal-best 43.92 meters and fifth in the javelin (41.48m). Ariel Molina cleared 1.81 meters to finish seventh in the high jump.
The Rangers also picked up a win in the relays, as the 4x100-meter "A" team of Jalon Rose, Jaylan Nelson, Jadon Rose, and Liburd took first place in 41.76.
