One School Record Falls, Four Rangers hit NCAA Provo at GVSU Big Meet

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The Parkside women's track and field team opened competition Friday at the GVSU Big Meet with multiple NCAA Division II provisional qualifying performances, a school record, and several strong marks across distance and field events.

Rachel Blaskowski led the Rangers with a first-place finish in the long jump, posting a mark of 5.89 meters (19' 4"). The performance met the NCAA provisional qualifying standard. Essence Burrows followed closely with a runner-up finish in the long jump at 5.83 meters (19' 1.5"), also reaching the NCAA provisional standard. Her mark currently ranks 35th in the nation.

Nailah Taylor added another provisional performance in the high jump, clearing 1.67 meters (5' 5.75") to place sixth overall. That clearance moves her to 42nd nationally this season.

On the track, Abbi Steiner delivered a standout race in the 5,000 meters, finishing fifth in 16:51.89 to hit the NCAA provisional mark. Her time currently ranks 24th in the country. Alyson Moore (18:41.06) and Riley Doyle (19:14.72) also represented Parkside in the event.

Anna Snorek continued her record-setting indoor season in the 400 meters, running 57.79 to break her own school record for the second consecutive meet.

In the distance events, Madison Perez posted a time of 5:12.45 in the mile to round out Parkside's track performances.

In the throws, Brooke Mader recorded a mark of 15.13 meters (49' 7.75") in the weight throw.
