KENOSHA, Wis. - The Parkside women's track and field team captured the team title Saturday at the Lake Michigan Open, turning in a dominant performance that featured multiple event wins, school records, and NCAA provisional marks.
The Rangers were strong on the track from the start, led by a sweep-heavy showing in the 55 meters. Essence Burrows won the event in 7.29, followed by Rachel Blaskowski in second (7.36). Mayda Conrad finished fourth (7.68), Savannah Torrence took fifth (7.73), and Lauren Wiitanen placed seventh (7.82), giving Parkside five top-seven finishers. Parkside also showed well in the 200 meters title with Jasmine Sieben winning the event in 26.89, while Torrence finished third (27.82), Jazai Lopez seventh (28.65), and Wiitanen ninth (28.95).
In the 400 meters, Jacy Boberg placed second with a time of 1:04.60, while Delilah Rodriguez finished fifth (1:06.56). The Rangers showcased depth in the 800 meters, led by Madison Perez in second (2:19.66) and Josie Kooima in third (2:23.74). Addison Lacy (4th, 2:25.67), Tempi Zondag (5th, 2:27.86), Anna Snorek (6th, 2:29.25), Chloe Miller (7th, 2:30.08), and Mattea Wuest (8th, 2:30.62) all earned top-eight finishes. Audrey Amaya added a third-place result in the mile, crossing the line in 5:27.16.
Distance events continued to favor Parkside in the 3000 meters, where Alyson Moore won the event in 10:42.80. Riley Doyle finished second (11:03.79), and Abby Robson placed third (11:21.01), completing a sweep of the top three spots.
In the hurdles, the Rangers went one-two in the 55 hurdles finals as Dani Riemer won in 8.71, with Miranda Winkler finishing second in the same time. Parkside also claimed first in the 4x400 relay, as the squad of Mattea Wuest, Madison Perez, Chloe Miller, and Addison Lacy posted a winning time of 4:20.43.
Field events were highlighted by multiple victories and record-breaking performances. Nailah Taylor won the high jump with a clearance of 1.63 meters, while Delaney McMahon placed second at 1.50 meters. In the long jump, Essence Burrows captured first with a mark of 5.82 meters, an NCAA provisional qualifying jump that ranks 28th in Division II. Dani Riemer finished second (5.32m), Analisia Melendez third (5.05m), Jazai Lopez fourth (5.00m), and Kylie Kwiatkowski sixth (4.13m). Riemer also won the triple jump with a mark of 10.98 meters, while Avah Banks placed second at 10.33 meters.
The throws capped off a strong day for the Rangers, led by Brooke Mader in the weight throw with a winning mark of 15.55 meters. Hannah Vlies finished second at 15.02 meters, Shelby Hanshaw placed sixth (12.69m), and Destiny Duesterbeck finished seventh (12.43m). In the shot put, Vlies earned a second-place finish with a throw of 10.85 meters, while Duesterbeck placed fourth (10.34m) and Shelby Hanshaw finished fifth (9.91m).
