Four Champions Lead Parkside Wrestling at Jim Koch Wisconsin Open

KENOSHA, Wis. - Parkside Wrestling delivered a strong showing at the Jim Koch Wisconsin Open, earning 11 top-five finishers and four individual champions.

At 133 pounds, Elon Rodriguez claimed the tournament title with a dominant performance. He opened the day with a 15-2 major decision, followed by a 10-5 decision win in the quarterfinals. Rodriguez continued his momentum in the semifinals, earning an 8-3 decision to advance to the championship match. He secured the 133-pound crown over Jace Hedeman by medical forfeit.

At 133 pounds, Matthew Chi started his day with a 5-1 decision victory before dropping his next two bouts by major decision. He closed out the tournament on a strong note, earning an 8-6 decision over Lincoln Flayter to secure fifth place.

At 141 pounds, Jordan Craft delivered a solid performance on his way to a fifth-place finish. He started the day with a 5-0 decision win before dropping an 8-0 major decision. Craft responded with back-to-back decision victories, 4-3 and 5-1, but later fell by an 8-3 decision. He closed out his tournament with a win by medical forfeit over Northern Iowa's Max Brady.

At 149 pounds, No. 3–ranked Jalen Spuhler dominated the bracket on his way to a first-place finish. He opened the day with back-to-back falls at 2:26 and 5:26, then rolled into the finals with a 12-3 major decision in the semifinals. Spuhler capped off his strong performance with a 5-2 decision over Cole Solomey to secure the Rangers' second individual title of the tournament.

Easton Worachek earned the 157 pound title for the Rangers. Worachek won his first bout of the day in a 12-3 major decision. He also earned a major decision victory of 12-2 in the semifinal matup. Worachek secured the title after beating Issac Ruble of Purdue in a 8-5 decision. He had a late takedown with 5 seconds left to secure the victory. Marking the 3rd champion of the day for Parkside. 

No.4 Brody Hemauer turned in an impressive performance on his way to a runner-up finish at 165 pounds. He opened his day with back-to-back technical falls at 1:16 and 7:00, then secured a 5-0 decision in the semifinals to earn his spot in the championship match. Hemauer ultimately fell to Gage Barnell, 10-4, in the finals, closing out the tournament with a strong second-place finish for the Rangers.

Competing unattached, Nolan Skebba delivered a strong performance at 165 pounds, earning a fourth-place finish while competing unattached for the Rangers. He opened the tournament with an 18-2 tech fall, followed by a tight 6-5 decision victory. Skebba dropped his semifinal bout by an 8-2 major decision but bounced back with a 9-6 decision win. He ultimately finished fourth after falling to Iowa's Isaiah Fenton by a 14-3 major decision.

No.11 Dajun Johnson dominated the 174-pound bracket to claim the title. He opened his day with a fall at 6:21 and followed it up with a 15-5 major decision victory in the semifinals. Johnson secured the championship with an 11-1 major decision over Central Missouri's Anthony Erickson, earning Parkside's fourth individual title of the day.

No.7 Brady Schuh battled back to earn a third-place finish at 184 pounds. After dropping his opening bout, he advanced in his next match by medical forfeit. Schuh then picked up a win with a 14-4 major decision, followed by a 17-2 technical fall and a fall at 1:26. He closed out his strong run with a 14-8 decision over Grand Valley State's Bradley Mayse to secure third place.

No. 13 Jordan Blanchard earned a fourth-place finish in the 197-pound bracket for the Rangers. He opened the day with a 19-13 decision win, then followed it up with fall in just 52 seconds. After dropping his next bout by tech fall, Blanchard responded with another fall at 1:36. He closed out his day with a loss to No. 14 Brayden Mirjavadi of Grand Valley State, securing fourth place.

Cooper Caraway captured a third-place finish in the 285-pound bracket. He opened the tournament with a fall at 4:23 before dropping a close 8-5 decision in his next bout. Caraway rebounded with a 4-3 decision victory and secured third place after a medical forfeit win over Josh King of Harper College.

The Rangers will return to action December 12th, when they travel to Mankato, MN to take on Minnesota State Mankato.
