Kenosha, Wis. — No. 3 ranked Parkside wrestling retained the Sake Bottle on Friday night, defeating Whitewater 39-8. The Rangers dominated the night, winning eight of ten bouts including six with bonus points.
Whitewater won by tech fall in the opening bout of the night to rocket to a 5-0 lead. No. 5 ranked Matthew Chi pulled Parkside even in the next bout, defeating Tyler Weidman by a 20-4 tech fall. Chi came out fast on Friday with four first period takedowns. Chi took down Weidman two more times in the second to secure the victory.
No. 1 ranked Cayden Henschel gave Parkside the lead with a tech fall win of his own. Henschel scored seven points in the opening 30 seconds. In total he scored 13 first period points. Henschel then put the bout away in the second with eight near fall points, securing a 21-3 tech fall victory.
Easton Worachek kept the theme of fast starts going for Parkside when he secured seven first period points, including a takedown and four near fall points. After a scoreless second Worachek was able to secure an escape, takedown and four near fall points to secure the 15-0 tech fall win.
Parkside held a 15-8 lead at the midway point on Friday after Whitewater won by decision at 157lbs.
Dajun Johnson started the second half of the dual strong for Parkside. He picked up the win by fall with 1:03 remaining in the second period.
Crosby Schlosser continued the Parkside dominance with a 7-1 win by decision over Caden Kirchner. Schlosser struck first with a takedown in the opening period. He escaped in the second to earn a point and shut the door with a takedown in the third.
No. 4 ranked Reece Worachek took care of business in the 184lb bout, winning by a 17-2 tech fall. Worachek scored seven points in the first period with a takedown and four near fall points. He scored four points in the second, then closed the match out with two takedowns in the third.
Chase Stegall won by fall in his bout. He led by three after the first period, then showed off his strength, pinning Clarck with 1:06 remaining in the second.
No. 10 ranked Lloyd Reynolds closed out the night for the Rangers with a 21-8 major decision. Reynolds had six takedowns in the bout, two in each period.
