KENOSHA, WIs. -- Head Coach Nick Becker and Parkside Wresting is proud to announce the hiring of Brendan Murphy as an Assistant Coach for the program.

Murphy arrived in Kenosha following five seasons as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Bellarmine University, where he helped elevate the Knights' program both on the mat and in the classroom. During his tenure, Bellarmine produced seven Southern Conference All-Freshman Team selections and two All-SoCon wrestlers. The Knights also earned a program-record seven NWCA Scholar All-Americans during the 2025-26 season.

With Murphy on staff, Bellarmine senior Eric Beck became the program's all-time wins leader with 92 career victories. During the 2025-26 season, five wrestlers recorded 10 or more wins, while 17 different Knights earned victories throughout the year.

Prior to Bellarmine, Murphy spent five seasons as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II power McKendree University after previously serving as a graduate assistant with the Bearcats while completing his master's degree. During his time at McKendree, the Bearcats captured two NCAA Division II Super Region championships, produced three individual national champions and earned 29 NCAA Division II All-America honors. The program also finished among the top seven teams at the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships in each of Murphy's five seasons on staff.

Murphy wrestled collegiately at Southern Illinois Edwardsville, where he earned two NCWA national championships while completing his bachelor's degree in business in 2012.

He earned a master's degree in business administration from McKendree University before completing his Ph.D. in business at Trident University.
