One Record Falls, Two Rangers Meet NCAA Provisional Standards During Day One of GVSU Big Meet

ALLENDALE, Mich. --  The Parkside track and field team opened up the 2024 GVSU Big Meet on Friday afternoon, taking part in one of the most competitive indoor meets in the country. Parkside had several strong performances, including Katja Baeuerle and Sean Waldvogel meeting NCAA Division II Provisional standards in their respective events. Waldvogel also set a new school record in the 800 meters.
 
Sonja Mitrovic placed fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.67. Katja Baeuerle put up a huge performance in her section of the mile, finishing fifth with a time of 4:52.57. Her run also meets NCAA Division II Provisional standards. Rachel Blaskowski finished second in the invite portion of the long jump, recording a mark of 5.69m. She only placed behind a Division I competitor. Nailah Taylor showed out in the high jump invite section, finishing fifth with a jump of 1.62m.
 
Sean Waldvogel set a new school record in the 800 meters, finishing 12th in a time of 1:52.24. His time also meets NCAA Provisional standards. Grady Davis finished 7th in the 3000-meter early section, finishing in a personal best time of 8:26.94. Johnathon Nowacki finished fifth in his heat of the 5000-meter run, finishing in a time of 15:10.52. Simon Dominic recorded a personal best in the high jump on Friday. His mark of 1.95 was good for third place.
