ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Parkside Rangers track and field opened the outdoor season Thursday night with a strong showing at the Wash U Distance Carnival.
Doug Martin led the way in the 800 meters, finishing sixth overall with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:50.14. His mark ranks among the top five in NCAA Division II as of Thursday night.
Cayton Cratch turned in a strong performance, winning his heat and placing 11th overall in a personal-best time of 1:51.48. Amadeo Cortes Leclou rounded out the 800-meter group, finishing 29th with a time of 1:58.19.
In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Johanna Ebert recorded an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 10:44.15, a mark that also ranks top five nationally in Division II. Connor Sheahan added a 27th-place finish in the event, crossing in 9:34.38.
Parkside will continue competition Friday, with athletes split between the Wash U Distance Carnival and the SLU Speed and Power Invitational.
