Blaskowski, Taylor, and Steiner Hit NCAA Provo Standards In Big Opening Weekend For Rangers

KENOSHA, WI – Parkside women's track and field began the 2024-25 season on Saturday, competing in the season opening meet at Carthage College. Parkside had multiple standout performances, finishing second as a team.

"We had a very good day overall," said Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Nick Maas. "We several provisional qualifying standards set, several school records set, and several near misses on school records. It was a very very good day for the Rangers and I am very excited for our next one."
 
Rachel Blaskowski set a new school record in the long jump with a mark of 6.05m. As of Saturday night, that jump is the second longest in all of Division II. Nailah Taylor also hit NCAA Provisional Standards and currently holds the ninth best jump in Division II this season at 1.67m.

Abbi Steiner ran a day earlier, competing at the GVSU Holiday Open. She ran an NCAA Provo time of 9:46.53 in her first ever 3k.

  • Savannah Wittig – 2nd Place, 1:05.84
  • Jacy Boberg – 3rd Place, 1:07.12
55 Hurdles 4x400 Meter Relay
  • Wittig, Winkler, Boberg, Fredrick – 3rd Place, 4:22.68
High Jump
  • Nailah Taylor – 1st Place, 1.67m (Personal Best, NCAA Division II Provisional Qualifying Standard Met)  
  • McKenna Armstrong – 2nd Place, 1.62m (Personal Best)
  • Lainey Fredrick — 5th Place, 1.47m (Personal Best)
Pole Vault Long Jump
  • Rachel Blaskowski – 1st Place, 6.05m (School Record, NCAA Division II Provisional Qualifying Standard Met)
Shot Put
  • Brooke Mader – 8th Place, 11.32m (Personal Best)
  • Michelle Barnvos – 10th Place, 10.09m
Weight Throw
  • Hannah Vlies – 4th Place, 13.63m
  • Brooke Mader – 7th Place, 13.25m (Personal Best)
