STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- The No. 4 ranked Parkside Rangers continued their busy weekend on Saturday afternoon, competing at the 2024 Pointer Open, hosted by the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. The Rangers had numerous wrestlers place, led by
Matthew Chi who won the title at 133lbs.
No. 10 ranked
Matthew Chi brought home the title at 133lbs for the Rangers. Chi was dominant all day, winning by tech fall in the opening round, fall in the second round, and major decision in the semifinals. Chi defeated
Elon Rodriguez by a 3-2 decision to take home the title.
TC McGuire finished second overall in the 149lb bracket. McGuire put up big performances in the early rounds, winning by fall in the opening round, tech fall in the second round, and major decision in the quarterfinals. He then defeated Isaiah Mlsna by a 10-8 decision to move to the championship match. There he came up short against Walker Bents by a 21-8 major decision to finish second.
Troy Dolphin finished third overall in the 141lb bracket. Dolphin opened the day with a win by fall over Tristan Day. He then won by major decision over Simon Kruse of Wisconsin to move to the quarterfinals. After coming up short in the quarterfinals, Dolphin won three straight matches, including the third-place match by fall just 1:16 into the bout.
Easton Worachek finished fifth overall in the 157lb bracket. Worachek started the day with a 19-1 tech fall victory. He then won by a decision in the second round and fall at 2:56 in the quarterfinal. After stumbles in the semifinals and the first consolation match, Worachek was able to win by fall over Zaren Anderson just 1:21 into the bout to earn the fifth place finish.
Elon Rodriguez competed unattached and finished second in the 133lb bracket. Rodriguez opened the day winning by fall before two straight wins by decision put him into the championship bout. There he lost to Chi by a 3-2 decision to finish second.
Tanner Halopka competed unattached and finished fourth overall in the 165lb weight class. Halopka won the first two bouts of the day but came up short in the quarterfinals. He then rebounded, winning by fall over Alexander Rapelje just 35 seconds into the bout to keep his day going. He then won one more match before falling in the third-place match, securing a fourth-place finish.
Kaden Hooker competed unattached and finished third in the 197lb weight class. Hooker won by tech fall to open the day and by a 4-2 decision to qualify for the quarterfinals. After coming up short in the semifinals, Hooker won by fall over Ben Strehlow to move to the third-place match. There he defeated Elijah Brockie by a 13-9 decision to secure the third-place finish.
Drew Dolphin competed unattached and finished fifth overall in the 125lb weight class. Dolphin won by decision in his first two matches of the day before falling to Christian Guzman in the semifinals. Dolphin fell again in the next round but rebounded by winning by fall over Keegan Schlabach to earn the fifth-place finish.

Brady Schuh finished sixth overall in the 165lb weight class. Schuh went 3-3 on the day,
