Blazevic Earns Second Straight All-Tournament, Rangers Finish Fourth At The Motor City Shakedown

10/1/2024 7:37:00 PM

Dearborn, Mich. --- The Parkside Men's Golf Team wrapped up the second round on Tuesday at the Motor City Shakedown on a high note.  Despite the wet conditions, the course was very scoreable, and the entire team took advantage of it.

The Rangers finished the tournament in 4th place with a score of +9 overall (299 - 286). The team improved by 13 shots, from round one to two, and the two-under-par score (286) in round two was the sixth lowest in relation to par in program history. In addition to that, the +9 total after 36 holes was the ninth-lowest finish in program history. The Rangers were led by Peter Blazevic (E), Andrew Conrad (+3), Aleck Simms (+3), and Hayden Underhill (+4).

Peter Blazevic finished his second tournament of the season in 5th place overall with a score of even par (74, 70). The finish was enough to secure a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Blazevic had an excellent birdie on the long par-4 14th after hitting an 8-iron from 168 yards to within a few feet.

Andrew Conrad ended his first appearance at TPC Michigan with another consistent score relative to par. Conrad has shot within a few shots of par in every round so far this season. Ending with two pars, Conrad finished in a tie for 15th place at +3 overall (74, 73). Despite the lack of birdies this week, Andrew stuck to his game plan and made a lot of pars. Conrad had a key birdie on hole #5 today after hitting a pitching wedge within a club length of the hole.

Aleck Simms bounced back on Tuesday with a near bogey-free three-under 69. This round was enough to sneak him into the Top 15 this week with fellow teammate Andrew Conrad. He finished at +3 overall and climbed numerous spots up the leaderboard on Tuesday. His round featured a bogey-free 32 on the front nine and multiple iron shots close to the pin.

Hayden Underhill ended the day at +4 overall (73, 75) and in a tie for 21st. Despite one tough hole, Underhill played the remainder of the 17 holes at E and relied on a late birdie on hole #5. He was also the only player today from Parkside to birdie the short par-4 16th.

Matthew Marsollek also bounced back today with a consistent round of +2 (74). He had 15 pars today and relied on that consistency throughout his round. Marsollek was rewarded on hole #7 with his consistent play and was able to make a birdie after sinking a 15-footer. Marsollek's finish of +11 overall was enough for 36th in the tournament.

Will Finnerty ended his first collegiate tournament on a high note with a score of +3 (75). This brought him up the leaderboard and into a tie for 41st overall. The freshman made a solid birdie on the difficult par-4 9th hole today.

The Parkside Men's Golf team will return to competition on October 7-8 at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club in Lemont, IL. This tournament will be hosted by Lewis University and will be played on the well-known No. 4 Dubsdread design. The link to live scoring will be available at ParksideRangers.com/coverage.
