Carley Werwie-Swartz was named the Director of Golf at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in August 2022. Since her arrival, she has overseen continued growth and competitive success for the Rangers’ golf programs, including the addition of a women’s golf program in 2024.
Under Werwie-Swartz’s leadership, Parkside has produced multiple All-GLIAC selections and seen numerous team and individual school records broken. AJ Powell qualified for the NCAA Division II Regional Championships as an individual twice (2024,2025) during her tenure, marking a program milestone. Both the men’s and women’s programs have shown steady improvement on the conference and regional levels. She has guided the Ranger men to three team tournament titles.Â
Prior to Parkside, Werwie-Swartz served as the head women’s golf coach at Loyola University Chicago. Her most successful season came in 2021-22, when the Ramblers posted the lowest single-season scoring average in program history (310.5). Abby Thielbar set new 18-hole and 54-hole program records and earned All-Missouri Valley Conference honors, while Lorenza Martinez tied for fourth at the MVC Championship, the best finish by a Rambler at the event.
Werwie-Swartz previously coached at Carthage College, where she helped lead the Lady Reds to back-to-back runner-up finishes at the CCIW Women’s Golf Championships and oversaw recruiting efforts.
A Kenosha, Wis., native, Werwie-Swartz competed professionally for three seasons on the LPGA Symetra Tour and qualified for the final stage of LPGA Q-School three times. She was a four-year letterwinner at the University of Wisconsin, where she set a program 72-hole scoring record that still stands, earned the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award in 2011, and finished her career with a 77.27 scoring average, ranking fourth all-time.
Werwie-Swartz earned her bachelor’s degree in Human Development & Family Studies from Wisconsin in 2011 and her master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Carthage College in 2018.
