KENOSHA, Wis. --- The Parkside men's track and field team competed for the first time in 2024 on Saturday afternoon at the Firebird First Invitational, hosted at Carthage College. The Rangers put together a strong performance as a team, finishing second.
Austin Depuydt brought home a first place finish for the Rangers on Saturday, winning the 3000 meters with a personal best time of 8:43.20. Johnathon Nowacki was right behind, finishing in second place in the 3000 meters while Jose Monroy finished fourth.
Brody Nyffenegger and Thomas Doherty finished second and third respectively in the 55 meter dash. Nyffenegger finished second with a time of 6.57 while Doherty ran a personal best time of 6.59
Parkside dominated the 800 meter race, placing six runners in the top ten. Michael Cabaltera led the charge of Rangers finishing second with a time of 1:57.01. Grady Davis, Thomas Diamond, Tommy Martin, Konner Akey and Fischer Schneider rounded out the top ten finishers for Parkside in the event.
The Parkside 4x400 relay team composed of Calbaltera, Akey, Dalton Metzdorf, and Erik Johnson finished second.
Doherty finished in third place in the high jump with a mark of 1.85m. Michael Hendrix finished second in the pole vault with a mark of 4.30m. Daksh Arora was close behind, finishing third with a mark of 4.00m.
Riley Williams finished fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.47m.
The Rangers will return to action on Saturday, January 20th when they host the Lake Michigan Invite inside the Frank Petretti Fieldhouse. Links to live results can be found at ParksideRangers.com/coverage.
