CEDARVILLE, Ohio – After two rounds of the Cedarville Invitational at the Country Club of the North, the Parkside Men's Golf team is leading the 10-team field by four strokes. After posting a 2-under team score in round two, the Rangers sit at 5-over par overall (581), four shots clear of second-place Malone University (585). Senior Steven Sanicki and freshman Andrew Conrad are tied for third at 1-under 143, two shots behind first place.
ROUND 1 RECAP
Conrad led the team in round one with a two-under 70, thanks to a 34 on the front nine. Close behind was senior Steven Sanicki with a 2-over par 74. Following was Aidan Webster with a 75 and senior Chase Fisk with a 76. Rounding out the scoring for the team was senior Danny Sanicki with a 77. As a team, the Rangers shot 295 in round one and were tied for third entering the afternoon. Fisk had a stretch for four birdies in a row through holes five through eight.
ROUND 2 RECAP
The team came out firing in round two and were able to shoot up the leaderboard to grab the lead and maintain it through the majority of the afternoon. Steven Sanicki led the Rangers in round two where at one point he was five-under par but finished up with a three-under 69. He had eight birdies in the round, including four straight on holes three through six. Danny Sanicki was close behind with a one-under par 71 due four consecutive birdies on holes eight through eleven. Conrad and Webster each finished the round with 1-over 73s. Fisk rounded out the team scoring with a 75.
NOTEWORTHY STATS
The Rangers lead the field in par five scoring at –18, averaging 4.55. The Rangers also led all teams on day one in par three scoring (+11, 3.28). On the strength of the three different players with four consecutive, Parkside made the most total birdies of any team with 39 through two rounds.
On the par threes, Conrad led the field at 1-under par with one birdie and seven pars. Closely behind was Steven Sanicki and Fisk, who were +2. Webster was +3 on the respective holes. On the par fives, Danny Sanicki led the field at 5-under par while Steven Sanicki was –4 in round two alone after making four pars on the holes in round one. Conrad, Fisk, and Webster were each –3 throughout the day.
