KENOSHA, Wis.- Parkside traveled to the Marquette Invitational today where the team saw standout performances from sophomore
Jacob Pigeon after taking first in the 400-meter on the men's side and three second places on the women's side from junior
Grace Bitangalo, sophomore Kaila Mclaurin and junior
Amanda Johnson.

"Our men's 4x100 relay ran a really nice opener in a race we are very excited to see unfold the season," assistant coach
Carly Fehler said. "We were really excited for
Katie Adams who came to us after volleyball this year as a first-time track athlete and see her take third place in the javelin in her first collegiate meet. She is an extremely talented athlete and we are excited to see how she progresses.
Jacob Pigeon started to make his transition into shorter distances this year and he won the 400-meter dash out of a slow heat of 50.11 seconds and anchored the 4x100.
Amanda Johnson placed second in the 1500-meter race and in a personal best time of 4:42--a barrier she's been trying to break since high school, so today was a big race for her."
"Overall, we were really pleased with how the first outdoor meet went," Fehler added. "It's a coin toss for what kind of weather we will get in the Midwest during this time of year so we are excited to get some decent weather to kick off our outdoor campaign."
Pigeon placed first in the 400-meter with personal record of 50.11. Senior
Rhashad Gray came in second place in the men's 200-meter followed by sophomore
Bronson Esteves. In the 200-meter, freshman
Jeremy Steward placed fifth with a time of 23:28. Sophomore
Brock Eves finished fourth in the 1500-meter, trailed by sophomore Jacob Petri and junior
Zach Kiedrowski. The relay team of Esteves, Steward, Gray and Pigeon finished second in the 4x100 meter. In the 4x400-meter, senior
James Funteas Jr., freshman
Ramon Romero, Petri and Kiedrowski finished third.
On the women's side, junior
Grace Bitangalo finished second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13:37. Sophomore Kaila Mclaurin came in second in the 400-meter with 59.21. In the 800-meter, senior
Maddie Davy finished fifth. Junior
Amanda Johnson finished second in the 1500-meter with a time of 4:42.80 followed by junior
Becca Jasutis and junior
Rebecca Sennett. Jautis also competed in the 400-meter hurdles where she placed second. The relay team of Mclaurin, Bitangalo, Johnson and sophomore
Jada Williams placed second in the 4x400. New to the track & field squad, senior
Katie Adams took third in the javelin, throwing 26.42 meters.
Parkside will compete next weekend, April 12-13 at the Benedictine Relays in Lisle, Ill.
