LIBERTY, Mo. (Feb. 7, 2015)-- The 14th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's basketball team notched its third straight 20-win campaign on Saturday afternoon, outlasting Great Lakes Valley Conference rival William Jewell College 68-59 inside the Mabee Center.
 
The opening 10 minutes featured eight lead changes and three ties before the Rangers (20-2, 12-1 GLVC) mounted a 14-2 run to establish a 31-20 lead with 4:43 left in the opening half. UW-Parkside never trailed the rest of the game, enjoying a 33-28 advantage at the halftime intermission.
 
The Cardinals (9-12, 5-8 GLVC) cut the gap to just one point early in the second half but the Rangers scored 14 of the next 21 points to increase its lead to eight points. WJC cut the gap to just a possession at 49-47 with 8:00 left but Parkside responded one final time with a 12-2 run to mushroom its lead to 12 points. The Rangers led by at least nine the rest of the way to secure its fourth straight win and remain atop the GLVC East Division standings.
 
Jimmy Gavin led the Rangers with 18 points while Jordan Mach and Andy Mazurczak added 16 and 10 points, respectively. Jalen Currie led the Rangers on the glass with seven boards while adding six points on the offensive end.
 
Jordan Lewis led the Cardinals with 22 points while D'Vante Mosby had 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
 
With the win, UW-Parkside nets its third straight 20-win season, matching a streak of three straight set by Rees Johnson's teams from 1984 through 1987.
 
The Rangers return to the court on Thursday evening, hosting Missouri University S&T at 7:30 p.m. inside DeSimone Gymnasium for Civil Servant Day. UW-Parkside will don camouflage shooting tops for the occasion while all military, first responder, and government personnel and their families will receive free admission to the game.
