SOMERS, Wis. (Nov. 17, 2015)-- Andy Mazurczak eclipsed the 1,000-point milestone as the University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's basketball squad buried in-state foe Silver Lake College 103-53 on Tuesday night in a non-conference clash inside DeSimone Gymnasium.

The host Rangers (2-0) came out of the gate swinging, surging out to a 19-5 lead after just five minutes of play. UW-Parkside's double digit lead was built largely on the perimeter with Alexander Brown, hitting three treys while Mazurczak hit a three of his own during the scoring binge.

The visiting Lakers (3-6) reduced the deficit to nine with 14:13 left in the first half on a three but the hosts scored the next eight points to claim a 17-point buffer. Parkside continued to pull away from Silver Lake, establishing a 59-31 advantage after 20 minutes of play.

The Rangers enjoyed at least a 26-point buffer the entire second half and finished the contest in triple figures for the first time since laying 101 points on Missouri University S&T back on Feb. 15, 2014.

Mazurczak tallied 20 points and six assists in 22 minutes of play, ending the night with 1,001 career points. The senior guard surpassed the 1,000-point barrier on fast-break layup with 10:12 before leaving the game to a nice ovation from the crowd a minute later. Brown piled on the points for the second consecutive game, scoring 23 points in just 20 minutes of work while Goran Zagorac netted a double-double with 11 points and 14 boards. Kyle Flanagan was the fourth Ranger in double figures, closing the game with 11 points.

Denzel Smith was the only Laker in double figures, closing the game with 16 points.

UW-Parkside shot 56.3 percent (36-for-64) from the floor, including shooting 52.6 percent from three-point range.

The Rangers face their first NCAA Division II opponent of the season on Saturday afternoon, welcoming the University of Minnesota-Duluth to DeSimone Gymnasium with tipoff slated for 3 p.m.
