QUINCY, Ill. (Jan. 4, 2015)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's basketball squad emerged from its first Great Lakes Valley Conference road swing unscathed on Sunday afternoon, netting a 77-64 win over Quincy University inside Pepsi Arena to extend its win streak to six games.
 
The Rangers employed a 19-2 run stretching across both halves to establish a lead and never relinquished its advantage in the second half, closing the contest on an 8-2 run to secure the victory an remain perfect in league play.
 
The opening half featured five lead changes and four ties with the visiting Rangers owning a slim 32-30 edge at the halftime intermission. UW-Parkside led 7-4 early in the half but a 20-8 spurt by the Hawks gave the hosts a nine-point lead with 6:16 left in the first half. A Kendale McCullum jumper before halftime sparked a 19-2 run, turning a seven-point deficit into a 10-point advantage at 42-32 with 17:28 left in the game.
 
Quincy clawed back within a possession at 53-50 with 6:58 left but a three and a layup from Andy Mazurczak extended the buffer back to eight. The Rangers kept the Hawks at bay the rest of the way en route to the 13-point decision.
 
Four Rangers ended the afternoon in double figures with Mazurczak and Jimmy Gavin both pouring on 18 points. Gavin additionally dished out four assists while Zygimantas Riauka netted a double-double with 17 points and 13 boards. McCullum was the fourth member of the Green and White in double figures, claiming 10 points.
 
Evan McGaughey led Quincy with 15 points and seven boards while Dalton Hoover, Herm Senor II and Scottie Bruxvoort all added nine points.
 
UW-Parkside was prolific at the charity stripe, sinking all 20 of its attempts while owning a 24-10 edge in points off turnovers. Both squads shot exactly 43.5 percent from the field, both attempting 62 shots and sinking 27 of them.
 
The Rangers return to action on Thursday, opening up a four-game homestand against Maryville University with tipoff inside DeSimone Gymnasium slated for 7:30 p.m.
