SOMERS, Wis. (Jan. 8, 2015)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's basketball team never trailed on Thursday night, extending its win streak to seven games with a 70-56 victory over Maryville University in a Great Lakes Valley Conference clash inside DeSimone Gymnasium.

The Rangers (11-1, 3-0 GLVC) opened the game on an 11-2 run over the first eight minutes before building a 15-point buffer with 8:02 left off a Jalen Currie layup as the Saints (7-5, 2-1 GLVC) missed 11 straight shots from the field. Maryville crawled within eight off an Armon Provo three with 3:30 left in the first stanza but the Rangers scored the next six points to build the lead back up to 14 before taking a 30-20 advantage into the locker room at half.

A 12-2 run early in the second half ballooned the Ranger lead to 19-points with Jimmy Gavin banging home a trey with 14:10 remaining in the game. The Saints clawed back into the game over the next seven minutes, utilizing a 16-4 spurt to pull within seven with 7:05 left. Parkside's lead was further eroded to just four points with 3:41 left off a Trae Pemberton three but the homestanding Rangers answered the call with a 10-0 run to secure the win. Mohamed Mohamed kickstarted the run with a layup before Zygimantas Riauka netted a layup of his own the next possession. Gavin drained a layup and drew an intentional foul, sinking his two shots before another Gavin bucket capped the spurt with 50 seconds remaining.

Riauka finished one board shy of his sixth double-double of the season, scoring 17 points with nine rebounds, shooting eight-for-10 from the field. Mohamed came off the bench and tied a season-high with 16 points while Gavin added 15 points and four assists.

Pemberton hit three three-pointers on the night, leading Maryville with 15 points while Josh Montague added eight off the bench.
