SOMERS, Wis. (Dec. 4, 2014)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's basketball team had four players in double figures on Thursday night, overpowering Silver Lake College 89-51 in a non-conference showdown inside DeSimone Gymnasium. Zygimantas Riauka led the way with 21 points and 14 boards as the Rangers notched their second win in as many days.

A quick steal and layup gave the visiting Lakers (4-10) the opening points of the game before the Rangers (6-1) battled back, utilizing a 13-3 run to take an eight-point lead with 16:14 left in the first half. Jordan Mach was dialed in from distance to start the game, scoring Parkside's first nine points after sinking his first three attempts from beyond the arc. Pesky Silver Lake whittled the Ranger advantage to just a possession at 15-13 with 11:52 left but the hosts answered with a 14-5 run to extend the lead into double digits. UW-Parkside enjoyed a 39-23 lead at the halftime break and owned a double-digit cushion the entire second stanza in the 38-point blowout win.

Riauka led all scorers with 21 points, shooting eight-for-10 from the floor while grabbing 14 rebounds. The senior additionally dished out four assists, tallied two blocks and nagged three steals in 31 minutes of action. Mach canned four threes on the night to finish with 14 points and six boards while Andy Mazurczak and Jimmy Gavin collected 13 and 12 points, respectively.

John Duke paced the Lakers with 14 points while Carl Jean added 10. Stevens Alexis led Silver Lake on the glass, grabbing nine rebounds.

UW-Parkside controlled the turnover battle, forcing 18 Laker miscues while committing just seven turnovers. The Rangers capitalized on those opportunities owning a 19-4 edge in points off turnovers. The Green and White owned a 28-14 advantage in points in the paint and shot an even 50 percent (31-for-62) from the field while holding the visitors to shooting just 33.9 percent (21-for-62).

The Rangers are idle the next 12 days before continuing the homestand on Dec. 16 against Upper Iowa University. Tipoff inside DeSimone Gymnasium is slated for 7 p.m.
