(Dec. 20, 2014)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's basketball team extend their winning streak to four, with a hard fought 69-62 win against non-conference opponent Michigan Technological University at DeSimone Gymnasium. UW-Parkside and Michigan Tech exchanged the lead 15 times, and the score was tied 8 times.

The Rangers (8-1) started the opening half strong and were led by 11 first half points from
Jimmy Gavin, including three baskets from behind the arc. Parkside was up 31-20 with less than five minutes left in the first frame, but the Huskies (5-3) pushed back with a 15-3 run to finish the half with the lead 35-34.

The second half was started off with the Rangers taking back the lead with a three-point basket from
Jordan Mach, his second of four on the night. Michigan Tech answered with a three-pointer of their own from Ben Stelzer, and both teams continued to go back and forth for most of the second half. With less than three minutes left in the game,
Jalen Currie made a layup to give the Rangers the lead for good.

Michigan Tech was led by senior Ben Stelzer who finished the game with a team high 32 points which included 7 three-pointers. Jordan Chartier led the Huskies with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Defensively, Michigan Tech was able to hold Parkside's
Zygimantas Riauka to a season low four shots.

UW-Parkside shot 43.8 percent (21-for-48) from the field, including 38.1 percent (8-21) from behind the three-point line. The Rangers made more free throws (19-for-33) than the Huskies attempted (9-for-11), and won the turnover battle by a margin of 15-5.

The Rangers will return to action in 2015 when they open up their Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule with a two game road trip beginning in Missouri against Truman State on January 2
