SAINT CLOUD, Minn. (Nov. 21, 2014)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's basketball team led nearly wire-to-wire on Friday night at Halenbeck Hall, claiming a 76-65 victory over non-conference foe Saint Cloud State University in the Rangers' first regular season contest inside the continental United States.

Getting a pair of threes from Jordan Mach, the Rangers (3-0) raced out to an 11-6 lead just under five minutes into the game. The host Huskies (2-1) scored the next seven points to secure a 13-11. The lead was short-lived for SCSU, with the Rangers scoring the next five points to reclaim its advantage. UW-Parkside never trailed the rest of the game, owning a 34-29 lead at the halftime break.

The Rangers scored the opening seven points of the second stanza, getting jumpers from Zygimantas Riauka and Jalen Currie and a trey from Mach for a 41-29 buffer with 16:46 left. UW-Parkside kept the Huskies at arms length the rest of the way, owning at least a seven-point cushion in the 11-point victory.

Currie led the Rangers offense, pouring on 16 points while adding seven rebounds. Jimmy Gavin finished one board shy of a double-double, scoring 15 points with nine rebounds and six assists. Mach got all his points from beyond the arc, sinking four of his eight attempts for 12 points while Andy Mazurczak was the fourth UW-Parkside player in double figures with 11 points.

Saint Cloud State's Kevin Lewandoski tallied a game-high 20 points with Donnell Cegers and Jordan Poydras adding 13 and 12 points, respectively.

UW-Parkside shot 49.0 percent (24-for-49) from the field on the night, including hitting 61.9 percent (13-for-21) of attempts in the second half. The Rangers owned a 39-30 rebounding edge but was outscored by a 42-20 margin in the paint.

The victory is the Rangers' first on continental soil after claiming their first two wins of the year while playing in Puerto Rico. Parkside heads even further North on Sunday, trekking up to face the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Tipoff against the Bulldogs is slated for 3 p.m.
