DULUTH, Minn. (Nov. 23, 2014)-- Zygimantas Riauka poured on a season-high 24 points while Jimmy Gavin added 20 as the University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's basketball team turned in its best shooting performance of the season on Sunday afternoon, running past University of Minnesota-Duluth 79-61 inside Romano Gymnasium.

The Rangers (4-0) finished the non-conference contest shooting 60.8 percent (31-for-51) from the floor including a blazing 65.4 percent (17-for-26) in the second half, to nab the team's fourth road win in as many tries.

Riauka tallied the game's opening bucket but the homestanding Bulldogs (3-2) collected the next five points for the 5-2 lead with 17:46 left in the first stanza. UW-Parkside answered with the next nine points, building a six-point advantage off an Andy Mazurczak layup with 14:54 left in the half. The Parkside lead grew to 12 points off a Goran Zagorac layup before the visitors took a 35-25 lead into the locker room at half.

A Gavin three gave UW-Parkside a 51-41 lead with 12:07 left in the game but the Bulldogs battled back, closing to within a possession at 59-56 with 7:27 left off a Brendon Pineda bucket. The Rangers answered the challenge with the next nine points, part of a 21-5 run to finish off the game and give UW-Parkside the 18-point blowout win.

Riauka converted nine of his 11 attempts from the floor, pouring on 24 points to lead all scorers while grabbing five rebounds. Gavin was equally as deadly from the floor, hitting seven of his 10 attempts, including three of his five opportunities from three-point range to finish with 20 points. Mazurczak was the third Ranger in double figures, adding 13 points with four assists.

Reece Zoelle led the Bulldogs with 19 points while Brett Ervin added 16 points and Brendon Pineda grabbed a game-high six boards.

UW-Parkside outscored UMD by a 46-18 margin inside the paint while collecting six of the eight fast break points in the game.

After four straight on the road, the Rangers will enjoy the comforts of home the rest of the calender year, opening up a five-game homestand beginning on Saturday, Nov. 29 against Walsh University. Tipoff inside DeSimone Gymnasium is slated for 3 p.m.
