COLUMBUS, Ind. (Apr. 1, 2013)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's golf squad captured its second team title of the season on Monday, besting the 14-team field and edging runner-up Ferris State University by a stroke to win the Otter Creek Invitational.
The Rangers carded a two-day team score of 598, shooting a 303 on Sunday before tallying a 295 on Monday to surge to the team title. Ferris State took second billing with a two-day tally of 599 (300-299) while Great Lakes Valley Conference nemesis University of Indianapolis was third with a team score of 600 (298-302). Grand Valley State University led the team standings after day one, shooting a 297 on Sunday before finishing fifth overall, shooting a 310 on Sunday for a combined total of 607.
Keith Buntrock paced UWP's efforts at the invite, shooting a pair of 71s to finish second overall, carding a 142.
Jake Wisniewski compiled a 149 (77-72), while
Brian Krupo finished with a two-day score of 155.
Nick Corban (77-80) and
Kyle Kolberg (82-75) both tallied a 157 at the event.
Wayne State University's Austin Hill secured top individual honors, compiling a 140 (72-68).
This is the second invitational title for UW-Parkside this season, also winning the nine-team Maryville Invitational on Oct. 8 in Eureka, Mo.
The Rangers return to the links on Saturday, heading to Georgetown, Ky. And the Cherry Blossom Golf Course for the third regional invitational of the season.
