Men's Golf Falls to Red Men 32-22

KANSASVILLE, Wis. (Sept. 14, 2012)-- An undermanned University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's golf team fell 32-22 to local rival Carthage College on Friday in a 36-hole match play style event at Brighton Dale Links.

The opening round of the day featured a partner match with the front nine played utilizing a best ball format while the back nine utilized an alternate shot format. Points were awarded for winning the front nine, winning the back nine and overall score. The day's second round consisted of singles matches while maintaining the same scoring structure. Squads consisted of 12 players with the Rangers only fielding 11, utilizing a Carthage player to fill out there 12-man lineup.

The Red Men led 11.5-6.5 after the morning round before winning by an identical margin in the afternoon for the 32-22 victory.

In the morning round, Brian Krupo and Kyle Kolberg secured a three-point sweep against Riley Bauman and Pat Clavio, shooting a 35 on both the front and back nine for a 18-hole total of 70. In the afternoon it was Nick Corban who emerged with three points, shooting a 76 (40-36) to defeat Casey Schneider while Zach Haman and Jake Knuese each grabbed 2.5 points in their individual showdowns.

The Rangers return to the links on Monday, hosting day one of the UW-Parkside Fall Invitational at Strawberry Creek in Kenosha.
