Homestanding SIU Edwardsville defeated the visiting UW-Parkside women's soccer team, 3-1, at Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Illinois, on an 80-degree late Friday afternoon. The loss dropped the Ranger record to 5-2-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Cougars are now 4-3-1 overall and 3-2-0 in league play.
The Cougars scored all three of their goals in the first half on four shots on goal. SIU Edwardsville found the back of the net at 11:03, 23:59 and 43:36.
The lone Ranger goal was notched by Brittany Kaim (Palos Hills, Illinois) at 56:01. The goal was assisted by Meredith Novak (Batavia, Illinois).
UW-Parkside was limited to just two shots on goal in the contest.
The Rangers will now head to Quincy for a noon match with the Hawks Sunday, Sept. 23.
