KENOSHA, Wis. – Parkside women's soccer senior Emily Mikkelson picked up another postseason honor this week, earning a spot on the Division II United Soccer Coaches All-Region Second Team, marking the first all-region selection of her career.
Mikkelson's all-region recognition comes on the heels of a breakout senior season in which she was also named First Team All-GLIAC for the first time. The veteran forward and playmaker finished the year with career highs across the board, totaling six goals, seven assists and 19 points. Her six goals were tied for the team lead and tied for third in the GLIAC, while her seven assists ranked second in the conference and led the Rangers. Mikkelson's 19 points were also third best in the league and paced Parkside's attack.
A steady presence throughout her career, Mikkelson played more than 1,300 minutes for the fourth consecutive season and appeared in all 19 matches for the Rangers in her final year. Her experience and consistency helped anchor one of the most successful Parkside seasons in recent history, as the Rangers remained in the GLIAC title hunt deep into the year and advanced to the conference semifinals.
This all-region honor adds to an already decorated season for Mikkelson, who finished her career as one of the most productive and durable players in program history.
