KENOSHA, Wis. — Parkside outlasted Roosevelt 8–6 in an 11-inning battle Thursday afternoon at Historic Simmons Field, capped by a walk-off two-run home run from
Jackson Lindquist.
The Rangers struck first in the opening inning when
Josh Wicker delivered an RBI single to bring home
Angel Rades for a 1–0 lead. Roosevelt responded in the fourth with a three-run frame, highlighted by Cooper Ohlson's two-RBI triple and a wild pitch that gave the Lakers a 3–1 advantage.
Parkside answered in the fifth, tying the game at 3–3 on
Benjamin Loyd's two-run homer. The back-and-forth continued as Roosevelt regained a 4–3 lead in the seventh before
Noah Goddard evened the score again with a solo home run in the bottom half.
Roosevelt appeared to take control in the ninth, scoring twice on bases-loaded walks to go up 6–4. But Parkside refused to fold. Loyd drove in a run with a double, and a passed ball brought home the tying run to force extra innings.
After both teams went scoreless in the 10th, Parkside's pitching held firm.
Michael Merline (2-0) tossed two shutout innings in relief to earn the win.
In the bottom of the 11th, Wicker kept the inning alive with a two-out single before Lindquist launched a walk-off home run to left, sealing the 8–6 victory.
Loyd led Parkside offensively, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs, while Lindquist added two hits and the game-winning homer. Goddard also contributed with a home run and two hits.
Roosevelt was paced by Alejandro Muunoz, who collected four hits, and Quinn O'Bryan, who added three.
