UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- The Parkside Rangers men's track and field team delivered a historic performance at the 2026 GLIAC Indoor Championships, finishing third overall with a program-record 116.5 points at the meet hosted by Saginaw Valley State University. The 116.5 points mark the highest team total in program history at the GLIAC Indoor Championships.

"I'm incredibly proud of what this group accomplished," said Nick Maas, Parkside Director of Track and Field and Cross Country. "The men were phenomenal all weekend. We broke the school record for team points by a significant margin, 30 points beyond the previous mark and matched the best team finish in program history. Their energy, resilience, and competitiveness showed in every event, and it was a total team effort from start to finish."

Carson Hull and Doug Martin brought home extra hardware, with Martin being named the GLIAC Track Athlete of the Meet and the High Point Athlete of the Meet. Hull was named the Freshman Field Athlete of the meet.

Parkside was fueled by record-breaking performances on the track. Ian Liburd set new school records in both the 60 meters and 200 meters, placing fifth in the 60-meter final (6.93) after running a record-setting 6.85 in prelims, and finishing runner-up in the 200 meters with a record time of 21.60 to score eight points.

Michael Hendrix added key sprint points, placing fourth in the 400 meters (48.98) and finishing third in the 60-meter hurdles final (8.13), while Máté Pesti followed closely in fourth (8.25). The Rangers capped the meet on the track with another record-setting effort in the 4x400 relay, as the quartet of Hendrix, Carter Peet, Doug Martin, and Amadeo Cortes Leclou broke the school record with a fourth-place finish in 3:16.25.

The middle-distance group dominated the 800 meters, led by GLIAC Champion Doug Martin, who won the title in 1:52.76 (10 points). Cayton Cratch placed third (1:53.73) and Cortes finished fifth (1:54.73), giving Parkside a major scoring surge. Martin later added a fourth-place finish in the mile (4:12.08), followed by Cratch in sixth (4:14.10) and Beckett Pawlak in eighth (4:16.81).

Distance events also contributed, with Connor Sheahan scoring in the 5,000 meters (8th, 15:04.30) and adding a 10th-place finish in the 3,000 meters.

In the relays, Parkside's distance medley relay of Cratch, Peet, Cortes, and Martin earned runner-up honors in 10:01.29, adding eight more points to the team total.

The Rangers were equally strong in the field events and multi-events. Freshman Carson Hull captured the GLIAC title in the heptathlon with 4,503 points, while teammate Nick Katsma placed second with 4,397 points to give Parkside an 18-point swing in the event.

In the high jump, EJ Johnson and Simon Dominic tied for fourth with clearances of 2.07 meters, while Ariel Molina added a sixth-place finish (2.02m). Molina also scored in the horizontal jumps, placing eighth in the long jump and fifth in the triple jump, where Pesti (3rd) and Lincoln Myer (6th) also contributed points. Ryan Peel added a point in the pole vault with a seventh-place clearance of 4.54 meters.

The Rangers will now wait to see who qualifies for the 2026 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships in Virginia Beach, VA. Updates can be found at ParksideRangers.com.
