ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Parkside Rangers men's track and field team wrapped up competition Saturday at the GVSU Big Meet with a strong showing highlighted by a national-caliber distance medley relay performance.
The Rangers' top moment came in the distance medley relay, where the "A" team of
Cayton Cratch,
Carter Peet,
Amadeo Cortes Leclou, and
Doug Martin placed 10th in 9:56.12, hitting the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard. The time currently ranks 21st in Division II this season. Parkside's "B" relay of
Robin Bertsch,
Levi Krautkramer,
Jacob Jones, and
Corey Goff finished 22nd in 10:36.06.
In the sprints,
Ian Liburd led the way with a ninth-place finish in the 200 meters (22.16), followed closely by
Michael Hendrix in 10th (22.23).
Jaylan Nelson,
Dalton Metzdorf,
Cayton Cratch, and Liburd combined to place 11th in the 4x400 relay (3:26.60), while the "A" relay of Mate Pesti, Martin, Peet, and Cortes finished fifth in 3:18.89.
The 60-meter dash saw
Jalon Rose (7.11),
Mikhail Bolden (7.12), and
Lincoln Myer (7.15) pace a large Parkside group. In the 400 meters,
Levi Krautkramer led the Rangers at 52.23, followed by Bolden and Zander DeZarn (both 52.47).
Jacob Jones recorded the top Parkside finish in the open 800 meters (31st, 1:57.94), while
Andy Monroy competed in the 3000 meters (9:40.75).
In the field events,
Ryan Peel placed third in the pole vault, clearing 4.50 meters (14' 9").
Ariel Molina posted a pair of top-five finishes, taking fifth in both the high jump (1.92m) and long jump (6.38m).
EJ Johnson added a 10th-place finish in the long jump (6.10m), while Mate Pesti placed fifth in the triple jump (13.29m).
The throws were led by
Cooper Vail in the weight throw (19th, 13.87m), with
Zander Garlock adding marks in both the shot put (11.03m) and weight throw (13.18m).
Parkside will return to action next Saturday at the Lake Michigan Open.
