KENOSHA, Wis. – Four Parkside players set new career highs and the Rangers piled up 50 first-half points on the way to a 95-75 non-conference win over Division III Edgewood on Monday afternoon inside De Simone Arena.
Parkside (9-7) led 50-33 at the break, shot 50% from the field (32-of-64) for the game, and turned a dominant day on the glass into its most complete offensive performance of the season. The Rangers finished +12 in rebounding (39-27), scored 15 second-chance points, and added 12 fast-break points while holding Edgewood (2-14) without a fast-break point.
Redshirt sophomore forward Andrew Soenksen delivered a career-best 22 points and a career-high 18 rebounds, going 8-of-15 from the floor, 2-of-6 from three, and 4-of-6 at the line. Soenksen grabbed six offensive boards and helped Parkside control the interior from the opening tip.
Jack Rose poured in 24 points to lead all scorers, finishing 9-of-13 from the field with two threes and a perfect 4-of-4 effort at the stripe. True freshman Logan Zahour added his first 20-point game as a Ranger with 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting, knocking down three triples and coming up with four steals to ignite several transition chances. Zach Behn chipped in a career-high 16 points on 5-of-11 shooting with three threes, plus seven rebounds.
The Rangers' early shot-making set the tone. Parkside hit seven three-pointers in the first half (7-of-15), and a flurry of triples helped create separation after an 11-11 start. Rose and Behn each connected from deep during the push, and Zahour added a pair of first-half threes as Parkside built a double-digit cushion it never surrendered.
Edgewood hung around with efficient second-half shooting (14-of-25, 56%) and went 6-of-9 from three after halftime, but Parkside answered every stretch with timely scoring and work on the glass. The Rangers finished with 36 points in the paint, 13 points off turnovers, and eight blocked shots as a team, repeatedly turning stops into runouts or extra possessions. Matas Castillo did most of his damage at the free-throw line, scoring nine points while going 7-of-8 at the stripe and adding four assists.
Edgewood shot 45% for the game (27-of-60) and 40% from three (10-of-25), getting a big boost from its bench, which scored 49 points. Riley Kann led the Eagles with 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting, while Trey Keller and Caleb Poling scored 10 apiece. Cyle Steffl added nine points and Logan Steffensmeier and Kaleb Walter scored eight each.
Parkside's ability to generate clean looks and second chances ultimately decided it. The Rangers finished 21-of-25 at the line (84%), while Edgewood went 11-of-15 (73%).
The Rangers return to GLIAC play on Thursday, Jan. 22, hosting Grand Valley State at 7:30 p.m. CT inside De Simone Arena.
