KENOSHA, Wis. – The Parkside men's basketball team will take a brief pause from GLIAC play Monday, Jan. 19, when the Rangers host Division III Edgewood in a non-conference makeup game at 3 p.m. CT inside De Simone Arena.
Parkside enters the week 8-7 overall and 3-5 in GLIAC play, sitting in a four-way tie for sixth in the league standings. The Rangers are looking to steady the ship after an 0-2 road swing in conference play, falling 82-78 at Wayne State on Thursday before dropping an 82-61 decision at Purdue Northwest on Saturday.
Despite the recent results, Parkside has been one of the league's more efficient offensive groups through 15 games, averaging 75.6 points per game while allowing 73.2. The Rangers are shooting 43.9% from the field and 33.7% from 3-point range, while living at the free-throw line with 19.7 made free throws per game on 76.0% shooting at the stripe. Parkside is averaging 33.5 rebounds and 13.5 assists per contest, with 6.2 steals and 2.8 blocks per game.
Individually, Parkside has leaned on a balanced core all season. Paxton Warden has provided steady scoring punch at 17.7 points per game, while Luka Mateski has been the Rangers' most frequent top-end scorer, highlighted by a career-high 30 points in the loss at Wayne State on Thursday. Josiah Palmer has delivered timely perimeter scoring and playmaking, including multiple 20-plus point outings in conference play, and Fawaz Surakat continues to anchor the interior on both ends with team-leading production on the glass and as a rim protector.
Monday's matchup offers Parkside a chance to reset at home before jumping back into the heart of the GLIAC slate. This will be the Rangers' 11th home game of the season and begin a three-game homestand.

Parkside vs. Edgewood

SCOUTING EDGEWOOD:
Edgewood enters Monday 2-13 overall and 2-7 in NACC play under 14th-year head coach Justin Meyer. The Eagles have been searching for consistency on both ends, averaging 67.9 points per game while allowing 82.2, a scoring margin of -14.3. Edgewood is shooting 40.1% from the field and 33.8% from 3-point range, but has struggled at the free-throw line (64.5%) and on the glass, getting outrebounded by 5.3 per game (33.5 to 38.8).
Edgewood's profile suggests a team that can get hot from distance - the Eagles are making 8.9 threes per game - but the margin has often come down to extra possessions and efficiency. Opponents are shooting 48.5% against Edgewood and earning a steady diet of free throws (18.4 made per game by opponents), while the Eagles have committed 13.1 turnovers per contest and have been forced into chasing games.
This will mark the first-ever meeting between Parkside and Edgewood.
LOOKING AHEAD:
Following Monday's non-conference contest, Parkside will return to GLIAC play for good with a two-game homestand, beginning Thursday, Jan. 22 against Grand Valley State at 7:30 p.m. CT before hosting Davenport on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 3 p.m. CT.
