KENOSHA, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin–Parkside men's track and field team opened the indoor season with a strong showing on Saturday, finishing second overall among 13 teams at the Carthage Firebird First Invite.
Parkside saw multiple top-ten finishes in the sprints, led by Mikhail Bolden and Jalon Rose in the 55 meters. Bolden finished fifth overall with a time of 6.60 after running 6.58 in the preliminaries, while Rose followed closely in seventh at 6.62. In the 200 meters, Rose placed fifth with a time of 23.05, Jaylan Nelson finished seventh at 23.20, and Ramere Jackson earned a ninth-place finish with a time of 23.58.
The Rangers continued their success in the 400 meters, where Thomas Stiltner placed fourth overall with a time of 53.42. Levi Krautkramer followed in sixth at 53.49, and Dalton Metzdorf finished seventh after clocking 53.88.
In the middle distances, Philip Weiglein earned a runner-up finish in the 800 meters, crossing the line in 2:05.86.
Parkside dominated the hurdles, as Máté Pesti captured first place in the 55 hurdles with a winning time of 7.69. Michael Hendrix added another top performance, finishing second overall at 7.86.
The Rangers' 4x400 relay team of Ethan Cowart, Corey Goff, Levi Krautkramer, and Jacob Jones recorded a second-place finish with a time of 3:38.25.
In the field events, Ariel Molina placed fourth in the high jump after clearing 1.90 meters (6' 2.75"), while Nick Katsma finished ninth with a mark of 1.70 meters (5' 7"). In the long jump, Lincoln Myer placed sixth with a leap of 6.49 meters (21' 3.5"), and Molina followed in eighth after jumping 6.42 meters (21' 0.75").
In the throws, Zander Garlock finished seventh in the shot put with a throw of 12.01 meters (39' 5"), while Cooper Vail earned a sixth-place finish in the weight throw after recording a mark of 13.86 meters (45' 5.75").
The Rangers will return to action next weekend when they compete at the UW-Whitewater Invite on January 24.
