KENOSHA, Wis. – The Parkside women's cross country team kicked off the 2025 season with a statement performance on Friday evening at the Vic Godfrey Open, hosted on their home course at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course. The Rangers, finished third overall in the 10-team field with 44 points.
Parkside was led by sophomore
Johanna Ebert, who claimed the individual title in the women's 4K race. Ebert crossed the line in 14:15.1, pulling away late to secure a five-second victory and open the season with her first collegiate win.
The Rangers showed impressive depth, placing five runners inside the top 20.
Abbi Steiner joined Ebert in the top five with a fourth-place finish in 14:27.7, while
Alyson Moore (15:06.4) placed 11th. Rounding out the scoring lineup were
Madison Perez (15:20.7, 15th) and
Riley Doyle (15:25.1, 17th). Freshman
Ayianna Olivas (15:28.6, 19th) and sophomore
Josie Kooima (15:44.5, 31st) also delivered key performances in their season debuts.
Winona State claimed the team title with 35 points, edging Marquette (44) and Parkside (44). Carthage (131) and Lake Forest (153) rounded out the top five.
The Rangers return to action on Saturday, September 27, when they host the Lucian Rosa Invitational at 11:00 a.m. on the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course. The Lucian Rosa is one of the premier regular season meets in Division II this season, drawing teams from across the country for an early preview of the championship course. Parkside will also host the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional and National Championships in November.
