Parkside Volleyball Sweeps Tiffin, Opens Season 2-0 for First Time Since 2022

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. — Parkside Volleyball continued its strong start to the 2025 campaign with a straight-sets victory over Tiffin University (25-21, 25-23, 26-24) on Friday afternoon at the UIndy Invitational inside the Ruth Lilly Center. The Rangers now sit at 2-0 on the year, marking their first 2-0 start since the 2022 season.

"Proud of our team's ability to finish sets today. Our offense made improvements from yesterday that made a big impact especially late in sets. We did challenge them to pick up the defensive intensity after set one so it was great response to dig 42 balls and block eight in sets two and three," said Head Coach Leigh Barea.

The Rangers leaned on balanced offense and spectacular defense to close out a tight match. Senior outside hitter Ava Irvin recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs, while junior setter Lucy Russ posted a double-double of her own with 38 assists and 10 digs. Natalie Harris collected a notable 22 digs. Sam Fisch paced the offense with 15 kills on an impressive .483 hitting percentage — a new career high.

Parkside set the tone early in the opening frame, hitting an impressive .333 as a team to secure a 25-21 win behind sharp attacking and steady defense. The second set featured the tightest action of the match, with 14 ties and five lead changes, before the Rangers pulled away late for a 25-23 victory. The third set remained highly competitive as well, but Parkside held off Tiffin's late push to close out the sweep, 26-24.

Parkside closed the match hitting .218 compared to Tiffin's .124, while adding 59 digs on defense and delivering six service aces.

Parkside returns to action at the UIndy Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 6, when the Rangers face Thomas Moore at 12:30 p.m.
